September 6th, 2011

Morris South of Charlotte, North Carolina and Huntsville, Alabama will exhibit several new machine tools from Okuma, Bridgeport and Tsugami in Booth 106 at SOUTH-TEC, October 11-13 at the Charlotte Convention Center. Front and center in the booth will be Kevin Harvick’s car #29 from Richard Childress Racing.  Okuma America Corporation is the official machine tool sponsor of Richard Childress Racing.

“We are looking forward to SOUTH-TEC,” stated Jerry Rex, president of Morris South.  “It’s a great venue to display our key builders’ newest products, with strong attendance expected. We’re planning live cutting demonstrations on new vertical, horizontal, multifunction and Swiss machines to give customers a fully rounded experience in our booth.”

“Securing the race car for display is a fun side benefit of our relationship with Okuma America Corporation,” adds Mr. Rex.  “Customers enjoy learning about the role that Okuma technology plays in keeping RCR a winning team.”

In addition to new machine sales, Morris South provides tooling and accessories, application engineering and service support to manufacturers of precision machined parts from all industry sectors.  A new line of tooling for Okuma lathes will be introduced at Morris South’s booth: Velocity Products is a new company launched by Morris South’s parent company, Morris Group, Inc.

The following machine tools are slated to be exhibited at SOUTH-TEC.

New!
Okuma MB-4000H

High Speed Horizontal Machining Center
Okuma MB4000-H
New Product Introduction

The MB-H series machines deliver speed and power in a small footprint. Highly productive with a high speed 15,000 RPM spindle and reduced non-cutting time, the MB-H series is built on the Okuma Thermo-Friendly Concept enabling the machine to predict and counter thermal deformation for improved accuracy.

Okuma Millac 33TU
5-axis Vertical Multitasking Machine

The Millac 33TU features a direct drive 2-axis NC rotary table.  High powered and high torqued, it is ideal for radial and angular applications.  Its compact design is extremely rigid; box ways for all axes reduce cutting vibrations and deliver high accuracy, stable machining of thin to odd-shaped workpieces.

Okuma Multus B200
Multitasking Machine
Okuma Multus B200
The Okuma Multus B200 reduces set up time by virtually eliminating repetitive fixturing to improve accuracy and keep non-cutting time to a minimum. Collision Avoidance System software combined with Okuma’s THINC-OSP Control can run the entire machining simulation and detect potential collisions before they occur. Thermal-Friendly Construction assures high accuracy, even in the most complex applications.
