Recap: 2018 Applications Engineering Summit

Tsugami/Rem Sales held its 5th annual Applications Engineering Summit at its Midwest Technology Center in Roselle, IL from May 29-May 30, 2018.

There were 26 engineers in attendance from across North America. Participants included Tsugami engineers from EMEC Machine Tools in Canada, Morris South, HFO Florida, Morris Midwest, Rem Sales, and others. The seminar was packed with valuable training – a job well done, by all!

The event kicked-off with introductions from Steve Tragarz, Engineering Manager, a review of the 2017 event by Robert Budnovitch, Training and Turnkey Engineering Manager. Next up was a presentation on company culture, current business, and IMTS 2018 by George Media, Business Unit Manager. The morning ended with a session on Time Estimates and Excel by Steve Tragarz.

 

Following lunch, Derek Briggs, Swiss Product Manager, covered upcoming technologies in the world of Tsugami swiss-type machining. Derek was followed up by Damon Crook, Quality Manager and Robert Budnovitch with a look into the world of quality and demo machine protocol.

Matt Savers, Applications Engineer, wrapped up the first day with training on SPC Basics.

Day 2 of the summit was all about breakout sessions. Attendees were split into groups and rotated between sessions about:

  • Phase Sync Procedure – Adam Clark, Applications Engineer
  • Second End of Bar – Phil Byers, Applications Engineer
  • Machine Leveling – Mike Tyrell, Alignment/Prep Technician
  • Project Organizational Protocol – Bryan Howe, Applications Engineer
  • Preventative Maintenance – Kevin Pelletier, Assistant Service Manager
  • SolidWorks – Phil Inacio, Applications Engineer

Day 2 wrapped up with a session on General Protocols by Matt Lamoreaux, Engineering Manager and a presentation by Bill Bither or MachineMetrics.
