Tsugami/Rem Sales to Showcase LaserSwiss Machine at MD&M Florida

Windsor, CT- October 9, 2015 – Tsugami/Rem Sales, the exclusive North American importer of Precision Tsugami CNC machine tools, announced today that it will demonstrate the Tsugami S206 LaserSwiss at the MD&M show in Orlando, Florida November 18 – 19. This will be the machines’ first appearance in Florida.
“We introduced this machine at IMTS last year,” Tsugami/Rem Sales Vice President Mike Mugno said, “and it’s slowly making its way throughout the country. We can’t wait to show manufacturers in the Southeast what it can do.”
The S206 LaserSwiss combines 6-axis Swiss machining with a 400 watt laser cutting system on one machine, allowing manufacturers to perform Swiss turning and laser cutting operations with a single setup. All operations are programmed and driven from the machine’s Fanuc 32i-B control. The nozzle standoff adjustment is NC controlled, and the laser’s frequency, pulse width, focus and power are all adjustable ‘on the fly.’
The laser head was designed and built by Tsugami/Rem Sales’ sister company, Tsugami Automation (Tsugami Automation). Tsugami Automation also integrated the laser’s programming functions with the Tsugami’s CNC software. Both companies are subdivisions of Morris Group, Inc.
“What we do,” Tsugami Automation President Graham Noake said, “is customize new Tsugami machines to provide our customers with manufacturing advantages. We look at the parts they’re machining and we incorporate enhancements to make their parts better and faster.” Solutions include mechanical loading systems, custom tooling, and modified mounts, Noake explained, before noting that the LaserSwiss is one of Tsugami Automation’s most notable achievements.
“The LaserSwiss effectively replaces two machines with one,” Noake said. “It eliminates the need for multiple part setups and produces a finely finished part in a fraction of the time. It’s an exciting product.”
